HPE MSL3040 Tape Library with a LTO-8 Ultrium 30750 SAS Tape Drive & 40 Tape Slots

This HPE MSL3040 tape library (Q6Q62C) includes an MSL LTO-8 Ultrium 30750 SAS tape drive (Q6Q68A) & 40 tape slots. The HPE MSL3040 tape library package comes with the library, documentation, 1 x HPE LTO-8 tape cartridge (Q2078A), 1 x HPE LTO universal drive cleaning cartridge (C7978A), a mini SAS 1m cable, tape barcode reader, remote management, a rack or rail kit for this 3U library and a 1-year next business day warranty. The mini SAS data cable can be a 1m mini-SAS High Density HD-8644 to mini-SAS SFF-8088, or, if requested, we can swap it for a 1m mini-SAS SFF-8088 to mini-SAS SFF-8088 cable. The LTO-8 tape drive can read and write to LTO-8 tapes at up to 360MB/sec native or 750MB/sec compressed, and it can read and write to LTO-7 tapes, but it cannot read LTO-6 tapes.

This HPE MSL3040 tape library drive has many options including:

Scalability: It supports up to 3 tape drives and 40 tape slots in the base library unit. You can then add up to 6 additional units, creating up to 280 tape slots and up to 21 LTO-7, LTO-8, or LTO-9 tape drives.

Power supply upgrade kit: This option adds an additional redundant power supply.

Extended warranty: The warranty can be upgraded from the HPE 1-year Next Business Day (NBD) Warranty that the library comes with to a HPE 3 or 5 years Foundation Care Next Business Day (NBD) Response Warranty or a HPE 3 or 5 year Foundation, 24x7 4-hour Response Warranty for the library and its tape drives.

Partitioning: This lets each partitioned library appear to the host as an independent library, separate from other partitions in the library.

HPE TapeAssure Advanced: This proactively and intelligently monitors utilisation, performance, and the overall life and health of the library, drives, and media.

Encryption: The MSL3040 library offers an encryption licence and a key manager for added security. 

HPE Secure Manager License: This adds an extra layer of security by letting you control access to the tape library and authorise specific servers. It improves reliability by blocking disruptive traffic from unauthorised hosts.

High availability path failover: This uses host drivers, along with library and drive firmware, to manage multiple paths across multiple SANs. It presents a single drive or robot path to applications and automatically transfers commands to an alternate path if the original one is lost.
