Description

The HPE LTO-8 Ultrium WORM Data Cartridge or HPE LTO Ultrium 8 WORM tape cartridge Q2078W can hold up to 12TB of native or uncompressed capacity at a transfer rate of 360MB/sec and up to 30TB of compressed data at a transfer rate of up to 900MB/sec. The HPE LTO8 WORM tape cartridge uses Barium Ferrite (BaFe) as it's storage particle medium and has 6,656 tracks and is 960m long. The HPE LTO 8 WORM tape cartridge is a Write Once Read Many (WORM) tape and suitable for backup and archive where you wish to keep the data unchanged, but can read the data as often as required. The HPE LTO-8 WORM data cartridge supports partitioning and is backward compatible and therefore suitable to be read and written to in all LTO8 or LTO Ultrium 8 tape drives, and can be read and written to in all LTO9 or LTO Ultrium 9 tape drives. This is the first LTO Ultrium generation cartridge which is unable to be read by the last 2 generations of LTO tape drives so LTO-10 Ultrium tape drives when they are released will not be able to read LTO-8 tapes.

For the option of LTO barcode labels attached to your tapes please see Application of Tape Barcode Labels for details.
Drives that use the HPE LTO Ultrium 8 WORM data cartridges Q2078W are recommended to use the HPE LTO Ultrium Universal Cleaning Cartridge C7978A to keep the drive clean.

Please see the HPE LTO-8 Ultrium WORM Data Cartridge Q2078W brochure for more information.
