IBM 3592 JB 700GB Tape Cartridge 23R9830

The IBM 3592 JB 700GB Data Cartridge 23R9830 is the Generation 2 3592 cartridge with a native capacity of up to 700GB when used in an IBM 3592 TS1120 Tape Drive Model EO5 Gen 2 Drive using 896 tracks and with a transfer rate of up to 100MB/Sec but increases with later 3592 tape drives. The IBM 3592A3 TS1130 Model EO6 Gen 3 Tape Drive achieves a native capacity up to 1TB (1,000GB) using 1152 tracks and with a transfer rate of up to 160MB/Sec using the IBM 3592 JB tape cartridges. The IBM 3592 TS1140 Model EO7 Gen 4 Drive achieves a native capacity up to 1.6TB using 1792 tracks and with a transfer rate of up to 250MB/Sec using the IBM 3592 JB tape cartridge 23R9830. The IBM enterprise 3592 JB data cartridge has an estimated archival life of up to 30 years and comes with a limited lifetime warranty, free from manufacturing and material defects for the useful life of the product.

All IBM 3592 tape cartridges including JB cartridges support media re-use by enabling the drive to reformat and upgrade prior generation media cartridges. That means existing media cartridges achieve both improved performance and capacity which helps you mitigate the impact of a tape subsystem upgrades. The IBM 3592 tape cartridge is 825m (2706 feet) long and features a memory chip that stores performance and usage records. These records are used to proactively determine whether the tape needs to be replaced. The cartridge utilises thick plastics, ultrasonic welding techniques and tamper-proof screws to provide protection against accidental damage. The IBM 3592 JB cartridges use a uniform, ultra-smooth magnetic layer with a refined coating to improve media reliability, increase performance and minimize tape head wear.
