IBM 3592 JA 300GB Tape Cartridge 18P7534

The IBM Enterprise 3592 JA 300GB data cartridge 18P7534 is the Generation 1 3592 cartridge with a native capacity of up to 300GB when used in an IBM 3592 J1A Tape Drive Model EO2 Gen 1, and uses 512 tracks with a transfer rate of up to 40MB/Sec, but increases speed and capacity with later drives. The IBM 3592 TS1120 Tape Drive Model EO5 Gen 2 achieves a native capacity up to 500GB using 896 tracks and with a transfer rate of up to 100MB/Sec using the IBM 3592 JA tape cartridge. The IBM 3592 TS1130 Tape Drive Model EO6 Gen 3 achieves a native capacity up to 640GB using 1152 tracks and with a transfer rate of up to 160MB/Sec using the IBM 3592 JA data cartridge. All compression can achieve up to 3 times compression. The IBM Enterprise 3592 JA data cartridge has an estimated archival life of up to 30 years and comes with a limited lifetime warranty, free from manufacturing and material defects for the product's useful life.

All IBM 3592 tape cartridges, including JA cartridges, must be acclimatised in the operating environment for at least 24 hours before use. They also support media re-use by enabling the drive to reformat and upgrade prior-generation media cartridges. That means existing 3592 media cartridges deliver improved performance and capacity, helping you mitigate the impact of a tape subsystem upgrade. The IBM 3592 JA tape cartridge is 610m (2001ft) long and features a memory chip that stores performance and usage records. These records are used to proactively determine whether the tape needs to be replaced. The cartridge utilises thick plastics, ultrasonic welding techniques and tamper-proof screws to provide protection against accidental damage. The IBM 3592 JA cartridges use a uniform, ultra-smooth magnetic layer with a refined coating to improve media reliability, increase performance and minimise tape head wear.
