Description
The IBM LTO 10 Ultrium data cartridges or IBM LTO Ultrium 10 data cartridges are rewriteable and can write up to 30TB native capacity and have a native data transfer rate of up to 400 MBps, and can write up to 75TB compressed capacity, and a compressed data transfer rate of up to 1,000MB/s or 1GB/s. The IBM LTO Ultrium 10 data cartridge (LTO-10) provides a 66% greater storage capacity than the previous generation for long-term data preservation and rapid, reliable access to data. There seems to be no increase in speed when compared with LTO-9 tapes.
The IBM LTO10 data cartridge has a length of 1,035m (1.03km or 3,395.66 feet) and a width of 12.65m. The IBM LTO 10 Ultrium tape is designed to be used in all brands of LTO10 or LTO Ultrium 10 tape drives and libraries. High resolution 4K and 8K video, Big Data, and the ever increasing data requirements of business make the IBM LTO 10 tape cartridge a perfect solution for a more reliable and cheaper archive, low access storage and managed storage.
For further information view the IBM LTO 10 Ultrium Tape Media Data Sheet
For the option of LTO barcode labels attached to your tapes please see Application of Tape Barcode Labels for details. This would then become the IBM LTO Ultrium Generation 10 data cartridge pre-labelled 03PL170L.
Drives that use the IBM LTO Ultrium 10 data cartridges are recommended to use the IBM LTO Ultrium Universal Cleaning Cartridge to keep the drive clean.
LTO 10 Ultrium tape cartridges will be released for sale on, or the working day after Friday 27th June, 2025 and the tape drives should be available around the same time.
