IBM DDS-2 120M Data Cartridge 8191160

The IBM DDS-2/DDS2/DDS 2 DAT 4mm 120-meter data cartridge 8191160 has up to 4GB native capacity and up to 8GB compressed capacity. The Imation DDS2 tape is 120m/394 feet long, 4mm wide, and is read/write compatible with any DDS-2, DDS-3, or DDS-4 drives.

Drives that use the IBM DDS-2 120m data cartridge are recommended to use a DDS Cleaning Cartridge to keep the drive clean.

Storage, Operational and Transportation Environmental Requirements for IBM DDS2 tape cartridges

Operational Environment Temperature: 5-45 degrees centigrade
Operational Environmental Humidity: 10-80% relative humidity (no dew condensation)
Short-term Storage Environment Temperature: 5-32 degrees centigrade
Short-term storage environmental humidity: 20-80% relative humidity (no dew condensation)
Transportation Environment Temperature: 0-45 degrees centigrade
Transportation Environment Humidity: 5-80% relative humidity (no dew condensation)

If you don't follow these storage, operational, and transportation conditions, the tape recording surface will likely be damaged. Using a tape exposed to conditions outside the above in a tape drive to read or write data will cause further damage.

Always acclimatise a tape to the tape drive's environment when it comes in new or from offsite storage, for 24-48 hours before use, to prevent damage.
